NetMotion Wireless is a company that will make this yet-unrealized vision possible. The company’s InterNetwork Roaming technology lets users maintain persistent, secure connections to applications, networks, and data as they roam between offices, buildings, or global locations. In other words, it lets you hop-scotch across different types of networks -- from Wi-Fi and CDPD networks to GPRS, GSM and Bluetooth networks -- without dropping connections or losing data. NetMotion's software is featured with the new HP iPAQ 5400, and the company recently closed a $10.8 million second round of financing. What to look for in 2003: Look for NetMotion to sign more deals with wireless OEMs, and for the company to possibly bundle its software with another major handheld. Also, look for a possible deal with an IT integrator. |
