Mobile entertainment destination Thumbplay announced the private beta release of Thumbplay Music, a cloud-based subscription service promising unlimited, on-demand access to millions of songs from content partners including Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment, Warner Music Group and EMI Music, along with CD Baby, INgrooves, IODA, The Orchard and a host of additional independent labels. The Thumbplay Music application--currently available on an invitation-only basis to select BlackBerry smartphones as well as a downloadable Adobe AIR desktop version--includes its own in-app media player as well as search tools, favorites lists that synchronize between the device and the desktop, playlist creation, AutoPlaylist recommendations and iTunes playlist re-creation.

Thumbplay notes the music service will roll out to consumers during the first quarter of 2010. After a free three-day trial period, Thumbplay Music subscriptions will cost $9.99 per month.
