DeviceAnywhere launched a new solution called Proof Center, giving application developers the ability to self-test their content against the certification requirements of operators, operating systems or handset vendors. The solution was only previously available to a select few DeviceAnywhere partners.
The solution will enable developers to self-test on any of DeviceAnywhere's 2,000 registered devices. The mobile application development solutions company says that all of the test results, including handset screenshots or video, will be automatically compiled into saved proofs, sorted by application and handset. Developers can then look at all of that information through the Proof Center or in files that they will submit.
Application storefronts have proliferated since the introduction of Apple's App Store. Google then launched the Android Market and there are forthcoming stores coming from Microsoft, Nokia and Research In Motion. As mobile applications have grown in popularity, those running the apps stores have imposed certification requirements to maintain quality control. The number of applications in app stores has ballooned into the tens of thousands, and Apple's App Store now boats nearly 30,000 applications alone.
