Thumbplay Music adds Amazon Mobile Payments

Tools

LAS VEGAS--Mobile entertainment destination Thumbplay announced its new cloud-based Thumbplay Music subscription service will incorporate the Amazon Mobile Payments Service when it launches later this year. According to Thumbplay, consumers with an Amazon.com account can pay for a la carte music purchases using their login credentials and payment information on file with the online retail giant--full-track downloads begin at 69 cents.

Thumbplay Music launched in private beta in early January, and promises unlimited, on-demand access to millions of songs from content partners including Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment, Warner Music Group and EMI Music, along with CD Baby, INgrooves, IODA, The Orchard and a host of additional independent labels. Recent agreements with 20 additional partners boosted the number of tracks under license to more than 8 million. Thumbplay Music entered public beta earlier this week and is now available for download via BlackBerry App World--the all-you-can-eat service was previously available on an invitation-only basis.

Earlier this month, Thumbplay tapped Apple alum Pablo Calamera to spearhead the new service.
