Android 7.0 Nougat now available

The Android 7.0 Nougat roll-out has officially begun.

Google's new Android operating system (OS) release became available on many Nexus devices on August 22. Google also released the Android 7.0 source code to the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) to further extend the availability of its new OS.

David Burke, Android's vice president of engineering, noted Android 7.0 Nougat boasts over 250 features designed to "help make Android more powerful, more productive and more secure."

He pointed out the roll-out will take place across multiple Android devices over several weeks, and devices enrolled in the Android Beta Program will receive the OS as well.

Although Android 7.0 Nougat is expected to become available on a broad range of Android devices soon, many Android users wondered when they would be able to download the new OS.

Some Android users continue to wait for Android 7.0 Nougat to become available on their respective devices.

Meanwhile, numerous Android users who downloaded the new OS were ready to make the most of "Nougat Day" and test its features.
