Google's (NASDAQ: GOOG) ambitious Project Tango is a smartphone platform that uses computer vision, depth sensing, and motion tracking to generate on-screen augmented reality (AR) features and functions on top of physical environments. It's a potentially exciting technology, but now, with the news that Lenovo, Google and Qualcomm (NASDAQ:QCOM) are teaming up to produce a consumer mobile device implementing the technology and plan to release it in summer 2016, excitement around developing for the platform may be ticking upward.
To help that interest grow, Lenovo is offering a chance to win funding for developers who submit Project Tango proposals through Google's app incubator.
