Introducing the new FierceDeveloper

The mobile developer ecosystem has changed dramatically since FierceDeveloper first launched in 2003. Back then, developers wanted to know the latest on Java and BREW, the wireless operator still controlled much of the application ecosystem through the walled garden and the Apple iPhone didn't even exist.

Fast-forward nine years and we have a very different, and thriving, application marketplace. Mobile developers today want to know which operating system is best for their app--whether it's iOS, Android, Windows Phone or Mozilla's Boots to Gecko. They want to know how to attract venture capital funding, how to get their app discovered and which app stores offer the best revenue cuts.

To keep up with the fast-changing developer marketplace, FierceDeveloper's editorial team has created a new newsletter design that features in-depth articles on all the latest technologies and issues facing developers. We also are working with experts in the field--industry analysts and technology leaders that will be writing columns discussing the latest technology developments and providing tips to developers about how they can overcome some of their biggest obstacles.

We also have a new By the Numbers section, where we will highlight the latest research and analysis on operating systems, app stores, devices, navigation, discovery and more.

Heading up FierceDeveloper's revamped content is the newest member of the Fierce editorial team, Peggy Albright.

Albright is a long-time telecom industry journalist based in Santa Rosa, Calif. She is a frequent contributor to the FierceWireless ebooks and also writes for the IEEE Computer Society's Build Your Career Web site. She is a wireless analyst for GigaOM Pro and has been a contributor to TelecomTV.

Earlier in her career Albright was a regular contributor to Informa's Mobile Handset Analyst newsletter and the West Coast bureau chief and technology editor for Wireless Week.

You can reach Peggy via email at [email protected] or via LinkedIn.

I hope you like the new FierceDeveloper newsletter. Please feel free to send me your feedback. And if you are interested in writing a column for FierceDeveloper on your experience as a mobile developer, we'd be happy to hear your insights. --Sue
