Report: Security, 2G shutdowns are among key 2013 trends for M2M

While the outlook for the machine-to-machine market in 2013 appears positive there are also going to be a number of challenges that must be overcome, according to a new study from research firm Strategy Analytics. The company says that trends involving consolidation, cloud platforms and managing Big Data are all critical. The future security of M2M connections, shutdowns of older 2G networks and the adoption of standards are among key trends for the market this year, the report said. "Developments in the M2M space have progressed significantly; connectivity has become table stakes, partnerships are rife and mergers and acquisitions continue to see large players take an increasing share of the value stack, which speeds deployment for customers and reduces complexity and cost." said Strategy Analytics analyst Andrew Brown.
