Italian fixed network operator Fastweb has selected Nokia Siemens Networks as its technology partner for its planned launch of MVNO services. Fastweb recently signed an agreement with 3Italia which will allow the operator to offer mobile services across 3's network. The plan is that Fastweb will integrate the mobile network with its existing broadband platform which serves 1.3 million customers. Nokia Siemens Networks will deliver the network control solution during the first quarter of 2008, ensuring that the whole system will be in place for the MVNO service launch, scheduled for the second half of the year. The contract also includes a service package for commissioning, installation and launch support to prepare Fastweb for the MVNO operation.
