Job Summary:

Perform engineering work in support of projects and task in the PCS, WiFi and other wireless business plans. The primary function involves RF Design for new sites, RF Optimization and performance engineering of existing PCS network. Providing RF Engineering support is also expected for WiFi projects, which includes design, configuration and testing of the WiFi network.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. RF Engineering design support for sites in the PCS network. Requires the ability to use RF planning and mapping software tools.


2. Perform Capacity planning and performance engineering for an EVDO based PCS network.


3. Perform RF Optimization and customer trouble investigation in the PCS network. Collection and post processing of data is required to accomplish task. In addition, RF analysis of collected data and recommending resolution to issues is required.


4. Perform Call and Data traffic statistic analysis and be able to forecast growth projections for Capacity and resource growth.


5. Perform site selection of candidates through cell planning, review and approval process. Coordination with Site Acquisition group is expected.


6. Coordinates work for associate RF Engineers and contractors. RF drive test preparation, search area map preparation for new sites and problem resolution with RF equipment vendors are some of the expected responsibilities.


7. Provides engineering support to other Shentel organizations as necessary.


8. Performs activities associated with the effective management of internal site databases and coordination with other groups as part of Shentel PCS compliance process.


9. Ability to learn new wireless technologies, features, capabilities and improvements is expected.


10. Prepare presentations of wireless projects and provide easy to understand reports of technical plans is required.


11. Responsible for following, supporting, and enforcing all internal control processes and procedures.

Qualification Requirements:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent required


2. 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


3. RF planning or optimization tools, knowledge of wireless fundamentals, basic MS Office programming skills desired.


4. Technical understanding of  LTE, EVDO and/or CDMA technology.

 Knowledge of:

1. Knowledge of CDMA technology and 1xEV-DO network desired.
