Position Description

THE COMPANY
IMS Research (www.imsresearch.com) is a leading business-to-business market research firm that serves major companies in over 40 countries around the world. Our clients operate in fields such as semiconductors, automotive and consumer electronics, wireless technologies and industrial automation. They include household names such as 3M, AMD, DaimlerChrysler, IBM, Intel, Microsoft, Motorola, NEC, Nokia, Philips, Sony, Texas Instruments, TRW, and Toshiba. IMS Research was founded in 1989, and has been experiencing strong growth throughout its history, and has increased its revenues by over 110% over the last three years.

THE POSITION
We are currently looking to recruit market analysts to work for our Mobile Technologies Group, which is responsible for analyzing the Cellular Handset and Infrastructure markets; and Connectivity Group, which is responsible for analyzing various wireless technologies such as Bluetooth and Wi-Fi and their proliferation into various end-equipment markets such as PCs, Cellular Handsets and Consumer Electronics (CE). Both positions will be based out of our Austin, TX office.

The successful candidates will be working closely with the respective Group’s Research Director, as well as with other market analysts, and will immediately become involved in a multitude of tasks. These will be centered on researching and writing highly detailed market analysis reports, which involves client liaison, data collection and analysis, constructing market assessments and forecasts, extensive writing, etc. The candidates will also be responsible for developing new and existing client relationships with leading companies within the electronics, CE and communications industries. The position will involve regular travel throughout the US, and occasional travel to Europe and Asia.

THE CANDIDATES
We are looking for candidates with drive and initiative, who have excellent oral, analytical and written communication skills. These individuals must be comfortable in dealing with customers by telephone and face-to-face, in interview as well as sales situations. Good phone etiquette is a must. The Connectivity Group position will be remotely managed (with local mentoring), so the ideal candidate will have the ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.

Ideally, the candidates will have some experience in the CE or communications fields, but this is not essential providing an interest in these markets, as well as in business in general. Degree major is less important than an inquiring mind, but a minimum of a 3.0 GPA is required.

Prospective candidates must either be a US citizen, or hold permanent resident status (Green Card).
