RF Engineer for UMTS/HSPA/1xEV-DO/WiMAX Networks

Position Description:

We have an immediate need for Senior/Principal Engineers with hands-on experience in designing and optimizing UMTS/HSPA or 1xEV-DO or WiMAX networks. Key responsibilities include:
• Leading design and optimization efforts of UMTS/HSPA, 1x/1xEV-DO or WiMAX networks
• Design responsibilities include performing/reviewing RF designs, model tuning, site audits, analyzing mobile and network data, tuning equipment parameters and antenna positions, managing drive test teams, and mentoring staff
• Optimization responsibilities include working with operators to fine tune their networks including pilot pollution analysis, neighbor list analysis, access and retainability performance improvements, handover optimization, data throughput and latency analysis, and capacity analysis
• Mentoring includes working with customers to analyze market data and presenting sessions to teach optimization methods, trouble shooting and optimization techniques to teams of engineers

The position will be based in Dallas, TX, but will require significant travel.

Position Requirements

Education:
• Required: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering
• Preferred: Masters or Ph.D. in digital communications/telecom

Skills/Experience:
• Required: 5+ years of work experience in UMTS/HSPA or CDMA (1xRTT, 1xEV-DO) space. 2+ years of hands-on experience with UMTS/HSPA or 1xEV-DO. WiMAX experience is a big plus
• Required: significant work experience in one of the following roles:
o RF engineer/consultant at a major telecom network equipment vendor, and/or
o Senior/Principal RF engineer/consultant at a well-known telecom professional services firm
o Senior RF engineer at a national service provider
• Required: Extensive experience with UMTS or EVDO RF network optimization with Alcatel-Lucent, Ericsson, Nokia-Siemens, Motorola and/or Nortel equipment. Excellent knowledge of KPIs, messaging, and optimization techniques
• Required: Extensive experience with data collection tools, post processing tools, as well as statistical analysis of network KPI’s and counters.
• Required: Authorization to work in the US
