In brief…

Joining a dynamic and expanding Interactive department, this role spearheads the functional development of new features and services across mobile and other non-PC devices.

You’ll be the champion of all-things mobile within our client’s market place, advising brands and departments on the opportunities presented by this growing platform. You’ll be exposed to all levels of the organisation so great communication skills are essential.

It goes without saying that you’ll love all things mobile, and be across all the latest trends in the industry. You’ll need this as you’ll be creating best-in-class mobile experiences of our client’s brands…

In addition this role includes product management of single instance, tactical, commercial, online products. This will utilise many transferable product management skills and requires a candidate with previous experience managing external agencies.

Overall Purpose and Objectives:

This is an exciting role which is responsible for the roadmap of not only mobile & wireless interaction with brands but additionally for listener experiences through other, non-traditional, devices.

The overall purpose is to create mobile and off-PC experiences that compliment and are reflective of our on-air & online station positioning whilst being highly engaging and unique in order to attract a growing and increasingly engaged audience.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Product ownership for the strategy and development of mobile interactivity and products.
Examples include:
- Mobile platform – SMS / MMS / WAP
- Mobile and wireless devices such as PDAs and the iPhone
- Non-traditional platforms for streaming radio content
- Tactical projects tying in mobile, online and on-air
- Mobile advertising and sponsorship
- Cross platform integration – repurposing content from and to mobile
- 3rd party relationships and “white labelled” products

2. Take the lead role in the development process for the above products and services in line with the business case and objectives:
Strategic product road-mapping: giving us a forward-thinking view as to how our products could and should develop in the foreseeable future.
- Functional spec’ing and creative experience development of services.
- Supporting stakeholders such as programming, commercial and external parties.
- Operational support for mobile products and platforms
- Acting as ambassador for mobile activity: communicating mobile developments to users and management, general spread of good practice and ideas around the business.
- Working with the in house legal team to ensure all mobile activity is run inline with ICSTIS and Gambling Commission regulations and guidelines. Responsible for updating brands and stations on changing regulations and the implementation of these.
- Managing requirements from around the business. Finding the best ideas and important business or process requirements and folding them into the road-map.
- Strategic technical and conceptual planning: keeping our thinking at the cutting edge of industry and abreast of all relevant technical developments.
- Managing the reporting, invoicing and budgeting for all mobile activity.

3. Responsible for growth of revenue from mobile products & services.

Working Relationships and Requirements

• Strong and effective relationships with station management, technology departments and the web development team to ensure the development of products that meet requirements.

• Fluid communication and working process with the design and technology functions.

• Effective and strong relationships with the Head of Editorial & Community as well as the Interactive operations and management team to ensure that all new services are in line and at pace with the broad Interactive programme.

Key Measurement Criteria

• The effective and timely delivery of agreed new product development projects.

• Strong & trusted relationships & communication channels with above departments and functions.

• Relationships with 3rd party suppliers

Skills & Abilities

A demonstrable passion for all things mobile is essential.
Direct experience of mobile marketing, platform management and interactivity.
Direct experience of managing complex mobile interactivity within a broadcast environment.
Strong and up-to-date understanding of mobile technology including interactive platforms, mobile internet and emerging applications.
Creative and inventive, collaborative and with excellent communication skills.
Proven track record in effective management of 3rd party suppliers, commercial advertisers and internal stakeholders.
Robust working methods and strong attention to detail.
Proactivity and ability to think laterally, recognise opportunities and get the job done.
Experience working with development resource located remotely is desirable.
