Software QA Engineer - ARN Consulting

Position Description

Location: San Francisco, CA, but it involves travels to the UK to work for short stints with the UK-based team. Candidates must hold a valid US work permit
Salary $70,000 – $75,000; 22 days holidays and healthcare.

As part of their strategy, they work with major handset manufacturers and network operators to provide innovative and feature rich Smart Clients on Java, Symbian, BREW and Microsoft platforms. They are looking for a bright, enthusiastic QA Engineer to join their new US team because the demand from handset manufacturers and mobile operators for these products is huge.

Core job description

The role you are applying for is Software QA Engineer. This role primarily focuses on all the QA activities relating to mobile services, but it also includes porting existing applications to new handsets as well as business and functional requirements analysis. You will require excellent analytical skills plus a keen attention to detail and the ability to think laterally. Due to the dynamic nature of the business, self-motivation and the ability to learn quickly is also essential. Day to day tasks will include writing test plans, executing both automated and manual test plans on mobile devices, porting applications to new handsets and trouble shooting firmware issues with pre-market handsets.
Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Experience of testing mobile devices.
- Excellent problem solving ability.
- Keen attention to detail.
- Experience in using (reading & writing) xml, xsl and at least one scripting language (e.g. Perl, Java Scripts)
- Knowledge of Linux, SQL, and relational database concepts
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
- Experience / knowledge of the full software lifecycle and standard test processes
Also of interest:
- Experience/knowledge of Java or C/C++ Development.
- Exposure to web technologies and server applications.

- Experience reviewing business & functional requirements documents.
- Knowledge of CVS, Ant and Make.
