Position Description

The Senior Systems Solution Group (SSG) Engineer/Architect has a key role within the global SSG structure. The successful candidate will be responsible for the architectural definition, specification, design development and implementation, and support of CSSP designs for QuickLogic customers.

Using professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways, the role holder is will work on complex issues where the analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.

The role requires a person with strong technical knowledge in digital logic, schematics (chip-level, board-level, system-level or systems engineering) and HDLs (VHDL and Verilog), FPGA design flow, and basic understanding of analog principles/theory.

Well-developed, mature communication, influencing and self-management skills are needed as the role holder works closely in terms of co-ordination and functional integration with various groups to provide viable and effective solutions to the customer. These key partner groups are located in multiple sites and geographies, and include design engineering, product engineering, software engineering, sales and marketing functions.

To be effective in this role and successfully perform the varied activities required, the individual MUST have advanced communication skills, a professional work ethic and attitude. and be able and willing to travel domestically and internationally.

Travel: <10% - some travel to key customers sites for design support will be required.


Education:

BE/BS or ME/MS in Computer Engineering/Electrical Engineering (required)
Required:

Knowledge of components, architecture, dataflows and usage models of portable, battery powered consumer electronic products.
5 years of board-level design experience of systems comprising an embedded applications processor, LCD screen, RAM, Flash, battery and various common CE device interfaces.
Knowledge and experience working with interfaces such as SD, SDIO, MMC, I2C, I2S, UART, PCI, Compact Flash, USB, IDE and CE-ATA.
5+ years of experience in HDL IP design, testing and debug
Have excellent knowledge of digital logic, VHDL, Verilog
Have strong debugging skills (design, board, etc)
Desirable:

Have knowledge and understand protocols such as PCI, IDE, DDR, I2C, SPI, etc.
Previous experience in writing device drivers in Windows CE, Windows Mobile or Linux is also a plus.
