Position Description

Under general supervision, responsible for establishing, maintaining and analyzing the company’s cost accounting systems. Responsible for cost accounting functions including maintenance of standard and actual costs, variance analysis, cost center reporting, inventory reporting and other systems and procedures necessary to prepare accurate financial statements and support assigned Andrew locations and/or business units.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Supports production management and business unit managers with analysis of variances and standard margins on a monthly basis. Interprets reports and records for managers. Analyzes sales and cost of goods sold by material group and provides supplementary reports for assigned business area. Coordinates the cost center budgeting, facility cost allocations, capital budgeting and other facility cost related requirements necessary to develop the annual operating plans with management and financial analysts. Collaborates with financial analysts to prepare and analyze information used in developing these plans.
2. Responsible for the complete month end close and accounting processes for assigned business. Prepares journal entries and other supporting schedules to enable the month end process to be completed accurately and timely. Includes transfer to and reconciliation of special purpose ledger.
3. Establishes new standards costs as required to support the production order processing for assigned business unit. Analyzes production order and PPV variances weekly and researches any large variances. Audits costs for accuracy and initiates corrections to errors.
4. Participates in annual review to establish new standards. Reviews price changes proposed by purchasing and costing lot size changes proposed by production control. Determines product costs and cost estimates for new or proposed product costs. Provides product overheads based on annual operating plan. Reviews resultant inventory reevaluation and report impact of product cost changes.
5. Participates in planning of physical inventory, leads the accounting audit of the physical count and assists manager in reconciling the physical valuation to the general ledger. Provides monthly data on variances and entity transactions for inventory. Provides trended inventory analysis with comparisons to plan. Coordinates the review of inventory to determine the reserves required for slow moving and obsolete. Assists in the determination of required warranty provisions. Types of Decisions Warranty reserve accruals; manual adjustments and accruals for sales and cost of goods sold; physical inventory processes; required analysis and reporting for operations; annual operating plan processes and reporting, process and schedule for settings annual standards globally; business decisions regarding day-to-day operations. WORK RELATIONSHIPS
Regularly interacts with all levels of management for variance review and verifications; gathering of cost data; analysis and coordination of monthly financial reporting. Support functions (accounting, operations, product line, procurement, etc.) Internal Gather data required for cost accounting analysis. Auditors Internal/External Participate in completion of year-end audit.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor degree in accounting, finance or other related discipline
• Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience with at least 3 years cost accounting experience (preferably with a standard cost system).
• Requires extensive experience in general or cost accounting, planning and analysis, overhead financial systems and/or forecast and budgeting.
• Requires an understanding of standard cost and the ability to make sound decisions in order to maintain inventory and financial accuracy.
• Ability to analyze business conditions.
• Ability to define problems, research/collect and analyze data.
• Strong written/ oral communication and interpersonal skills.
• PC proficiency including utilizing Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) as well as experience using an ERP system and accounting/finance related software.

TRAVEL: Occasional travel may be required.
LEADERSHIP/SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES May provide work leadership to lower level employees.
