POSITION SUMMARY

This role is a key part of the Blackberry Systems Engineering Team(BBSE). This team is responsible for managing the technical relationship with RIM’s new and existing carrier partners, introducing new products, identifying and verifying fixed issues in the field, and submitting issues internally for resolution. The BBSE team also liaises with other areas of the company including software, hardware, manufacturing, and product management and is responsible for communicating directly with the carrier partners. As a Field Test Specialist, you will be dedicated to testing/verifying BlackBerry products in the field to ensure quality prior to release. In your role, you will identify issues arising in the field and perform first level trouble-shooting and debug where appropriate, accurately describing the issues, and submitting them internally for further analysis and resolution. You will also assist in writing/updating test cases and procedures to facilitate the test efforts, understanding the test environment available to you, as well as contributing to process improvement to develop and maintain a consistent test strategy throughout. You will be required to submit detailed reports and keeping records of testing activities for later review and analysis. Ability to travel is a pre-requisite, including into South America.


ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
• 2-5 years testing/validation experience with wireless products
• Desire to be a professional in the software-testing field
• Familiar with GSM/GPRS or CDMA handset testing
• Solid bug tracking and test reporting skills
• Good knowledge and/or experience of using software engineering test tools
• Effective tracking, maintenance, and update of test cases and test suites
• Excellent analytical determination and problem solving skills
• Ability to work both autonomously and within a small team environment, where self-driven and self-motivated capabilities are essential
• Must be willing and able to travel up to 2 weeks at a time or as and when required
• Initiative and innovation with a passion for process improvement
• Detail-oriented and creative with questioning mind
• Full drivers license and eligibility to cross national borders
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Ability and willingness to travel as required.
• Fluent Spanish (verbal/written)


ADDITIONAL ASSETS
• Familiarity with BlackBerry products
• Strong knowledge of wireless technology (primarily GSM/GPRS/EDGE/3GPP)
• Fundamental understanding of Layer 3 Message flows Experience with client/server computing
