Position Description
MANAGER OF BUILD & RELEASE MANAGEMENT – E-COMMERCE
Position Summary:
The Manager of Build and Release Management is responsible for planning and directing configuration management and release management policies, programs, and initiatives for web based e-commerce applications. Responsible for leading a team of engineers in managing the source code control infrastructure and processes, maintaining and overseeing the build process and ensuring quality software by overseeing the building and deployment of releases. Additional responsibilities include having insight into the software development life cycle process and assist in ensuring that quality software is delivered to production in a managed way.
Key Responsibilities:
• Responsible for all aspects of environment and release configuration for the production and test environments; act as a “gatekeeper” for software releases into production
• Proactively take ownership of all source code baselines and historic releases of software, introduce successful project delivery through strict version control on development and testing environments
• Manage and approve changes to a configuration and inter-relationships between systems components
• Lead and develop a team including configuration & release engineers to ensure highest standards of delivery are met
Minimum Job Requirements:
• Requires a bachelor’s degree in information systems or related degree or equivalent experience
• Proven track record in configuration management across a variety of platforms and environments, an expert in the configuration management discipline, principles and tools
• Proven track record in release coordination and management across a variety of work teams as well as development methodologies (Agile and Waterfall)
• Experience in managing complex releases with strong knowledge of change problem and delivery management and familiarity with the software development life cycle
• Ability to explain and deliver change, release and configuration as a linked process and work with other IT managers to introduce best practice
• Capable and confident with the ability to influence and build robust relationships with colleagues across IT
• Expertise with administration and use of configuration management tools
• Experience with various branches and merging strategies

• Experience with web based e-commerce and partner integration.
• Proven track record in configuration management across a variety of platforms and environments, an expert in the configuration management discipline, principles and tools
• Proven track record in release coordination and management across a variety of work teams as well as development methodologies (Agile and Waterfall)
• Experience in managing complex releases with strong knowledge of change problem and delivery management and familiarity with the software development life cycle
• Ability to explain and deliver change, release and configuration as a linked process and work with other IT managers to introduce best practice

• Experience with Continuous integration
• Experience with SVN (Subversion, Python, Perl, Groovy)
