Position Description
Newfield Wireless, Inc is a leading provider of software products and services for wireless network design, optimization, and analysis. We are seeking a talented, experienced Systems Administrator to join our team and support our growing business. This person will also interface with Newfield customers, software engineers, RF engineers and business partners. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
> Administer 10-15 local UNIX servers (Debian and RedHat Linux)
> Support 15-20 local Windows workstations and up to 25 remote laptops
> Administer a 40-45 node LAN and internet connection and 2 WLAN nodes
> Coordinate company’s web site and web application hosting with our off-site web hosting provider
> Provide scripting and programming support for Newfield consulting projects
> Maintain PBX and VOIP phone systems
> Provide support for Newfield consultants and clients who need remote, secure access to our network for software downloads and other data interchange
> Research, recommend, purchase S/W and H/W for the company
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
> Excellent working knowledge of UNIX and TCP/IP network administration
> Experience supporting Windows desktops and laptops
> Working knowledge of at least one useful scripting language (Shell, Python, Perl, etc.)
> Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., SNIPS, ntop)
> Proficiency in at least one command-line editor (vi, emacs)
> Quick learner with great references
> Excellent written and verbal communication skills
DESIRABLE:
Experience with:
> Debian and RedHat Enterprise Linux, Xen
> Netfilter, IPSec, NFS, Samba, LDAP, PAM, Apache, LVM, OpenSSL, OpenSSH, hardware and software RAID
> Python, SQL, C/C++, Make, CVS, Subversion
Experience working in a software development environment
