Our client is one of the leading pan-European integrated children’s entertainment companies with localised television channels, programme distribution and consumer products businesses. Their business lines are driven by a localized approach and ownership of one of the largest libraries of children’s programming in the world.
1. Overall purpose of the Role:
To manage and develop licensing programmes for all properties & product categories within our client’s Consumer Products portfolio (Home Entertainment & Consumer Products) for the CEE markets (Inc. Turkey, Greece & Cyprus).
2. Responsibilities:
• To achieve the CEE budget for FY 09 (HV & CP) by exploiting all properties and product categories.
• Manage overseas licensing agents for specific properties & markets.
• Manage, negotiate, & close all deals for CEE
• To identify, develop and maintain direct relationships with CEE Licensees and Retailers within specifically allocated product categories.
• To develop a good working relationship with principals, where required, to identify gaps in the licensing programmes and negotiate appropriate and effective licensing deals.
• To identify, develop and maintain direct relationships within the publishing category where our client’s offices are not present. Focus on their magazines.
• To evaluate and coordinate new properties for sales opportunities, including sales projections/forecasts
• To liaise and work with channels where appropriate, specifically CEE Ad. Sales, Marketing and Acquisitions.
• To liaise with Creative & Marketing Manager on various aspects of any presentations/functions/PR activity that may be arranged by the company.
• To liaise with the Creative & Marketing Manager on any sales materials that is required in respect of all Properties in order to carry out the sales role effectively and efficiently.
• Research new markets and product categories
• To liaise with Licensing Director (LD) on potential licenses within allocated product categories which have multi-territory scope.
• To attend key trade fairs in the CEE & UK where necessary to maintain existing licensee relationships, broaden industry knowledge, prospect new licensees, sight potential piracy and enhance the visibility of the Company.
• To assist with obtaining overdue royalty statements, collection of royalties in conjunction with Financial Department where deemed necessary in connection with specific Licensing Manager’s Licensees.
• To police contractual obligations of (specifically allocated) Licensees
• Develop and manage 5-Year Plans for Finance as well as annual forecasts
• To notify LD of any competitive activity which may be deemed detrimental to the smooth running of the Company.
• To hold Monthly Finance Reforecasting meetings with MD, LD and FD and to update these forecasts and substantiate relevant amendments.
3. Competencies/Skills:
• Proficient in following computer packages: Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Microsoft Office and Internet.
• Strong communicator with good interpersonal skills
• A confident and persuasive negotiator with ability to close deals
• Competent presenter & presentation design skills
4. Qualifications and experience:
• Educated to Degree standard
• Previous Sales and/or Marketing experience is essential – preferably gained within the Licensing or Retail industry. Also 2-3yrs experience in either Home Entertainment industry or programme sales/distribution essential.
• Experienced enough to carry out the role with minimum supervision
• Willingness to Travel
• CEE language would be advantageous
• Capable of working independently as well as within a team
