Speech Recognition Specialist – Automotive Telematics Systems / Wireless Technologies

Job Description:

An exciting career opportunity for a Speech Recognition Specialist in an exciting industry. Lead reconnaissance, evaluation, specification, and support supplier development of industry-leading voice recognition technologies for both embedded and server based applications.


Responsibilities include:

Act as subject matter expert for voice technologies within the organization, providing technical guidance and leadership to insure client continues to deploy the optimum speech technologies
Manage Tier 1 supplier development activities and provide technical expertise to support timely and high quality launch of speech recognition technology within the client embedded platform
Manage Tier 2 supplier relationships with leading voice technology providers
Correlate customer level measures for satisfaction, usability, etc to objective performance measures
Develop software and tools that provide for evaluation of new and current speech technologies and user interfaces.
Work closely with HMI engineers to deliver a pleasing and easy to use user experience while maintaining a consistent look and feel.
Manage speech corpus collection and validation of speech solutions using available tools
Generates technical solutions for current, new and major programs
Provides technical leadership for advanced technology development
Performs complex design analysis
Develops engineering designs (including subsystems)
Implements engineering changes
Specifies and balances system requirements
Plans and implements test and/or development programs
Releases parts and subsystems for production
Communicates, coordinates, and consults with engineering departments and customers
Stays abreast of new technology and competitive products
Travels as required
Requirements:

BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent technical experience in a related technical field
2-3 years in systems and software development
3-5 years in developing, applying, or evaluating speech recognition technologies and solutions
Broad knowledge of related speech technologies including voice coders, DSR, VOIP, perceptive quality, noise suppression, acoustics, microphone arrays, etc
Excellent Communication and Cross Functional Team Building Skills
Strategic insight, thought process and mindset
Competency in MS Office Tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc)
High level of oral and written communication skills
Understanding of engineering theory and principles of operation of mechanical/electrical mechanisms
Demonstrated technical and professional skills in job-related area required
Exhibits appropriate interpersonal styles and communication methods to work effectively with business partners to meet mutual goals
High level analytical ability where problems are unusual and complex
High level of interpersonal skills to work independently and effectively with others
Knowledge of engineering software and systems as it pertains to job-related area
Preferred Skills:

MS or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent technical experience in a related technical field
1-2 years in automotive telematics systems or wireless technologies
5-10 years in embedded systems and software development
Deep and broad knowledge of speech recognition and related technologies
Knowledge of automotive systems, development processes, and acoustic environments
Proven cross functional team leadership
Demonstrated strategic insight and thought leadership
