Overview
We are seeking a Director of Technology to lead our technology development and systems engineering activities for our mobile commerce services.
Primary Responsibilities
• Work with Product Development and Business Development to gather product requirements and build them into the technical architecture and roadmap for our three lines of business: over-the-air payment services, Near Field Communication (NFC) services and mobile wallet services
• Define the platform architecture and vision to support future product features
• Play an active role with global standard bodies, credit card networks (Visa/MasterCard/Amex), banks, retailers, mobile operators and handset manufactures to shape mobile payment standards and ensure that our mobile commerce platform meets industry requirements
• Build and manage an outstanding engineering team of highly talented software architects, developers, QA analysts, systems administrators, network engineers and security specialists
• Oversee vendor selection and manage all technology outsourcing relationships
• Work with product & business development to prototype new mobile payment applications and services
• Manage the technology development process and release schedule
• Review and recommend technical improvements to software and systems architecture
• Oversee high-availability server / hardware infrastructure operating in multiple data center environments
• Lead the development of the company’s intellectual property strategy and patent portfolio
Requirements
• BS in Computer Science or Engineering. Advanced degree in similar field a plus
• Must have served as Director of Technology, VP of Technology, CTO or similar position for a mobile technology company where candidate made major engineering contributions
• Successful track record building new mobile platform technology from early adoption through market share leadership
• Must have extensive technical knowledge of SIM/UICC technology and Over-The-Air (OTA) management/personalization in a mobile carrier environment
• Experience with smart card and Near Field Communication (NFC) technologies
• Must have a technical understanding of advanced operating systems for smart mobile devices and wireless communications
• Design experience with embedded systems, Java applets and downloadable mobile applications for J2ME, RIM Blackberry, Windows Mobile, BREW or other platforms
• Experience developing n-tier Java applications/solutions for mobile carrier environments
• Experience creating mobile applications/services that scale for hundreds of thousands/millions of users
• Experience designing and implementing high availability server environments using multi-tier architecture, clustering and grid computing methodologies
• Experience with high-volume transaction processing system projects
• Proven ability in delivering complex engineering projects on time
• Must be able to personally deliver outstanding presentations at key meetings and business conferences. Must have experience developing white papers, speeches, PowerPoint presentations and other materials geared toward the needs of specific opportunities and audiences
