T-Mobile wishes to recruit a director of software development with experience in managing software development teams in the mobile and consumer electronics position . The successful candidate will lead a device development team in creating applications and platforms with the latest technology in wireless. In addition this position will drive T-Mobile supported open standards in order to leverage the power of open communities. Evaluating new technology and discovering new opportunities and partners will also fall within the purview of this position.
Major areas of responsibility include the following:
• Build a powerful and dynamic software development team capable of delivering solutions on a number of new and existing mobile platforms.
• Develop SDLC processes to ensure quality and timely delivery of products and services
• Oversee governance and strategy to open source programs that range from T-Mobile objectives into existing open source initiatives in which the company wishes to participate.
• Set strategy for creating an open source model for software developed by and for T-Mobile.
• Manage coordination between other T-Mobile development sites and outsourcing partners to ensure the timely deliver of new software for products and services.
• Participate and at times drive new opportunities in mobile, devices, software platforms, and consumer electronics.
• Work with ODM and OEM partners on the implementation of new software in support of products and services.
• Scouting of mobile applications market in the search of new innovative applications, software concepts and mobile technologies
• Passion for improving and perfecting mobile devices and mobile services
Qualifications:
:
• 12 -15 plus years experience managing development in the mobile environment including, Java, RTOS, CE, Linux, and Symbian. Demonstrated understanding of the challenges associated with developing on and for mobile networks and with mobile consumer electronics
• Experience in managing or participating in open source software development projects including governance
• Familiarity with Flash Flash/Light, Windows Mobile, Symbian
• Knowledge of Mobile Internet Standardisation. OMA, IETF & 3GPP.
• Knowledge of development life cycle management and tools (version control, documentation)
• Familiarity with software architecture (embedded or open OS) for mobile and consumer electronics devices
• Familiarity with client server technologies and mobile networks: EDGE, UMTS, SMS, MMS, IMS, location, SynchML, presence
• Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced and constantly changing work environment.
• Effective written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
• MS or BS in Telecommunications Engineering, EE, Computer Science, or equivalent experience
