Position Description

Designs and builds web pages using a variety of graphics software applications, techniques, and tools. Designs and develops user interface features, site animation, and special effects elements. Contributes to the design group’s efforts to enhance the appeal of the organization’s online offerings. Designs the website to support the organization’s strategies and goals relative to external communications. This is multi incumbent and reports to a supervisor or manager.

JOB DESCRIPTION / RESPONSIBILITIES
• Utilize expert level design skills and experience to concept and develop fresh art work, design solutions and graphic user interfaces for the web.
• Translate deep understanding of client system, brand promise and consumer research into user-friendly, targeted, effective, and compelling imagery and user experiences.
• Work closely with print design team to ensure seamless translation of offline assets and imagery to an interactive format.
• Maintain and provide ongoing design of the website, promotions, ad banners and seasonal content.
• Translate finalized graphic layouts into working web documents, using expert level knowledge of languages such as XHTML, Javascript and CSS.
• Create complex programming based animations with Flash and ActionScript.
• Work with development team to ensure consistency, efficiency, and system integration.
• Provide technical and functional web expertise to the team.
• Integrate brainstorming, critical-thinking, consumer data analysis and usability expertise to contribute to consumer-centric web design and development, thereby building sales and brand loyalty.
• Develop and maintain an expertise in browser-specific and platform-specific design and functionality issues, and apply accumulated knowledge in design of web assets and in consultation with other web project team members.
• Maintain best practices for layout, design, navigation and SEO.
• Oversee and guide the work of production artists, junior web designers, and/or freelancers and contractors.
• Participate in production and support related work as needed.
REQUIRED EXPERIEINCE
• 3 to 5 years experience of design, development, and deployment on web.
• Expertise in hand-coded XHTML, CSS, DHTML and JavaScript across multiple browsers and platforms.
• Expertise in ActionScript coding.
• Expert level in creative software including Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash and Dreamweaver.
• Excellent skills in concept development and design implementation.
• Exceptional critical thinking skills including problem solving, solution development and decision making.
• Excellent usability design and ecommerce experience.
• Works independently with little or no supervision
• Communicates effectively across multiple teams with excellent written and oral communication skills. Efficient organization and time management skills
• PC/MAC operating system familiarity.
DESIRED EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field
• Knowledge of ASP.net, C# and/or VB.net, SQL Server
• Understanding of complex database development
• Strong understanding of emerging web technologies
