Position Description

Work with a team of embedded software developers to design, develop advanced user interface frameworks targeted at high end, multimedia capable CDMA/GSM phones. The primary activity will be research and exploration in the area of new user interface paradigms, implementation and performance tests, optimization for small-screen rendering etc.

Qualifications:

· Five or more years of software engineering experience desired


Skills/Experience:

Requirement:

· Outstanding C and C++ programming skills in embedded systems

· Experience with Assembly language (preferably ARM)

· Experience with OpenGL-ES—implementation and usage

· Knowledge of state-of-the-art UI toolkits that are publicly available. Notably, Qt, FLTK, SDL, nano-X, Microwindows, etc.

· knowledge of inter-relationships between compiler, runtime and standard libraries

· CPU and OS dependencies on standard C++ library

· Templates, exceptions and their impact on performance, memory etc.

· Expertise in debugging difficult problems in embedded devices without full debugger support

· Must possess ability to work independently (self-directed & self-motivated)

· Must be capable of functioning in situations where requirements are not well defined (produce results with incomplete information)

· Candidate must be able to communicate technical ideas in a clear and un-ambiguous manner to other technical (and possibly non-technical) personnel



Education:

M.S. degree is preferred in Computer Science/Engineering, or equivalent
