Position Description

Salary: 36-40K
Location: London

Purpose of Role:

Our client is a leading Network Operator and they are looking for Trading Manager. To deliver the competitive insight and post implementation reviews required to produce sound commercial decisions.

Main Activities

• Detailed analysis of market insight (competitor, handset & channels) to drive improved commercial decision making
• Weekly trading insights report
• Detailed understanding of Handset and channel profitability insights to provide recommendations on trade-offs between channels and channel levers
• PIR evaluation on all commercial levers (ad-hoc deals, promotions, price downs, MSF, MktSF, Incentives)
• Review commercial analysis models
• 3 month activity targets
• Competitive handset pricing analysis and recommendations on range pricing

Problem Solving:

• Channel strategy – determining the optimum SAC/SRC by account in order to maximise ROI
• Manage different channel and handset economics and make optimisation calls
• Budgeting and forecasting in an increasingly competitive and changeable market
• Complex decisions around managing different levers: handset price, promotional offers, gift with purchase, communications, core tariff to ensure optimum ROI

Business Knowledge:

It is crucial for the right candidate to understand all areas of the business – esp. sales & finance as well as different commercial models, value chains and optimisation from industries outside telco. Understand future trends in handset pricing.

Knowledge/ Skills/ Experience

• Analysis and reporting
• Excel spreadsheet
• Capability to turn analytical thinking into clear and actionable plans
• Commercial experience in a branded service/FMCG business. Telco experience extremely advantageous
• Demonstrable understanding of the dynamics of price/behaviour based segments
• Strong communicator, both written and verbal, with a particular emphasis on the ability to influence management at all levels
• Sound financial acumen
