1 Purpose
The main purpose of the role is to be part of the Service Delivery, by representing Networking and Technology Consulting in the delivery of customer Responsibilities.
The main responsibility is to ensure that all solution deliveries to customers are made in a professional manner, achieving customer satisfaction and securing profitability for Ericsson.
In addition to service delivery the consultant shall assist in developing new services within this and other areas. He/She shall also seek to identify sales opportunities and generate repeat business while working on assignment.
The Consultant is responsible for the following activities within the process:
• Information Analyzes:
Analyzing customer requirements sufficient to produce a Requirement Specification for the network design.
• Fiber Network Planning:
Production of Preliminary Network Design Layout and Solution Specification for customer approval, and hence a Preliminary Equipment List
• Site Selection:
Site surveys in conjunction with Site Engineering and Civil Works teams to produce site survey reports and an Approved Sites list.
• Detailed Fiber Network Design:
Detailed design of Fiber distribution, Fiber Aggregators and splitters to produce Design Overview Report, Node Configuration Design Data, Network Design Layout
1.1 Process responsibilities
The consultant role will vary from project to project, requiring different types of process responsibility. When a consultant acquires an assignment it is essential that he/she agree the role responsibility with the project or resource manager.
1.2 Functional responsibilities
The consultant is responsible for protecting the Ericsson knowledge base and also for acquiring additional information and experiences for inclusion in it.
2 Authorities
The Fiber Design Team Leader shall have the authority to act on relevant problems and to ensure that configuration and / or quality problems are corrected according to prevailing requirements.
For changes / decisions that have an economical impact, the Team Leader must receive authorization from the Design Manager.
3 Reports to
The Fiber Design Team Leader should regularly report functionally to the Design Manager and sponsor. Further requirements may be defined in the project specification and/or the assignment specification for the project.
The Fiber Design Team Leader should report on the Line to the Fiber Design Manager (N&TC).
4 Interface to
Interfaces and communication between the Fiber Design Team Leader and stakeholders shall be defined in the project specification or assignment specification. Such interfaces can include, but are not limited to:
• Internal : Project Sponsor, Design Manager, Management Team, Delivery Personnel
• External: Customer as required
• Project: All stakeholders, Team members, Project Office
• Line Organization: All stakeholders, Members in you line organization group, Project Office

6 Required education and experience
• High technical education (bachelor’s degree in engineering)
• Experience in management (preferably above 2 years)
• At least five (5) years experience in Fiber optic area, preferably with Ericsson
• Good command of English language, oral and written.
• Competence to co-operate with managers, customers and subcontractors on an international level
• Ability to adapt and respect cultural difference is essential
