Software Engineer - JDSU

Position Description

A unique opportunity to utilize your training and work experience to work with a great team developing software for the telecommunications industry. JDSU is seeking a self-starting software engineer who wants to have the opportunity to contribute and to grow with the company. You will participate in all phases of the software development life cycle. In this role, you will be responsible for:
o Work with engineering architecture team to build architecture components and interfaces
o Work with engineering development team to create detail design and validation specifications
o Work with engineering project manager to create engineering project plan which includes features, work estimates, milestones, and schedules.
o Lead a small team of software engineers to carry out the design and development
This position is available at our Germantown, Maryland location.

To qualify for this exciting opportunity, you should meet the following qualifications:
o Completed a BSCS or BSEE or an equivalent degree
o Strong analytical and problem solving skills and abilities
o Excellent verbal and written communication skills
o At least five years of experience in working on systems with Oracle database
o Familiarity with Oracle 10 and higher, Oracle performance tuning, large scale database with partitioning, Oracle streams with replication, high availability configuration, and abstract schema design in a UNIX environment
o Oracle DBA for backup, recovery, and upgrade
o Demonstrated experience in working on a large and scaleable systems
o Knowledge in several of the following programming languages and technologies: Java, C, Perl, XML, HTML, PL/SQL, ODBC/JDBC
o Familiarity with software development process and tools such as version control, builds, software IDE/debuggers, etc.

Additional consideration will be given to candidates with experience:
o Advanced engineering degree
o Ethernet/VoIP/Video Performance Management application domains
o Telecommunications network management
