Job Title: Systems Engineer I

Due to our continued growth and customer demand we are currently recruiting for a qualified, interested and available Systems Engineer I (Lab Engineer) for an opportunity located in Ashburn, Virginia.
Position Summary:
This position is responsible for the administration, organization, and maintenance of the product development department´s R&D lab. In addition, this position provides general lab and test support to engineering staff to ensure efficient utilization of lab’s resources for product development and testing. Some travel may be required.
Essential Job Functions:
- Setup and administration of Sun and Linux servers.
- Maintenance and administration of the R&D lab IP network. This includes the setup and configuration of routers, Ethernet switches, and T1/E1 connections. Also includes making and installing network cables as needed.
- Support testing in the lab and in the product development department’s private network (e.g. drive testing).
- Maintain other lab equipment such as RF signal generators, lab power supplies, etc.
- Provide basic troubleshooting and repair lab hardware (e.g. soldering).
Education:
BSCS, BSEE or related (4) year technical degree with coursework in communications theory, software development, system level design is required.
Experience to:
- Minimum of 1 year of work experience administering Sun servers is required.
- Telecommunication experience is preferred.
Desired Experience:
The following experience is a plus:
Experience with SQL databases; Experience with Perl or other scripting languages; Experience with RF cabling, connector termination and antennas; Familiarity with basic telecommunications interconnect (T1/E1, T3) Familiarity with RF test equipment such as signal generators, spectrum analyzers, etc.
