OVERALL ROLE:

The Software Architect will become an integral part of the commercialization team in Sunnyvale, CA. This role is responsible for defining commercially-feasible end-to-end software architecture, communicating with global research and business unit peers, as well as gaining key technical acceptance during the technology transfer process. Iteration of the architecture and hands-on implementation are expected.

The researcher must participate in a small team of highly motivated peers translating research concepts into commercial solutions. The architect must possess communication and leadership skills that allow them to work with counterparts of all disciplines and gain their support.

We are strongly interested in candidates who have a solid background with Internet based systems in a Service Oriented environment. Experience with extending the Internet to embedded devices is desirable.


SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

Experience designing and developing Internet based software systems:
- Previous architect or lead developer role.
- Masters Degree in Computer Science a plus.
- Ideal candidate should have worked on an end-to-end solution and led the initial design, component realization, and integration of the system.

Technical background that includes:
- Expert knowledge of Web services, SOA, SaaS, and RESTful, JSON, Ajax, RSS/Atom principles is highly desired.
- Strong Object Oriented design, C++, C#, Java or similar in-depth language experience.
- Distributed system design.
- Embedded development/architecture experience.
- Android programming experience a plus.
