Position Description

www.Army.mil – Mobile Application Software Engineer

MPRI (an L-3 Communications company) is seeking a creative candidate who will focus on engineering fully compliant and accessible mobile versions of Army.mil content to include mobile themed Web sites, applications, games, news content, and text messaging. Devices that are targeted include the RIM Blackberry and Apple iPhone. The candidate will also utilize Apple’s SDK (http://developer.apple.com/iphone/) to create applications for the iPhone and iTunes Store.

Since the position is a relatively new industry competency we are looking for a candidate who can grow into the position and help shape the program as well as provide guidance in the delivery of mobile content. This position does not have a concrete skill set requirement since it can lean in multiple directions based upon the candidates background. Candidates are desired with Java experience for Blackberry development and/or Objective C experience for iPhone application development.

The candidate should have a good understanding of OOP, UI design, XHTML, CSS, alternative stylesheets, and WAP delivery as they apply to mobile content delivery. A background in user interaction design, Web development, or computer science is desired.

You will be joining the growing team of Army.mil, the U.S. Department of Defenses’ most heavily trafficked military Web site with an estimated viewership of 4 million unique users per month.
