OVERALL ROLE:

Motorola’s Sunnyvale office, located in the heart of Silicon Valley, is looking for experienced, talented, and motivated Senior Build Release Engineers to design and build build/release/tools that will help make our Android products a success. We are looking for someone who has the experience to have ownership to architect and drive the successful delivery, while collaborating closely with managers and other engineering teams, our build system, and tools. You will be using open source tools while getting an opportunity to work with Android.

• Design continuous, nightly, and release automation build systems.
• Reduce build times by refactoring GNU Make and ant build files.
• Create and implement plan for managing build environments and toolchains.
• Manage git and Subversion servers with the potential to convert to an all git site.
• Assist developers with build and merge issues.

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
• 6 to 12 years work experience with 3-4 years of recent build/release tools development experience.
• Excellent Linux command line skills including system administration.
• Must have designed build/release systems from the ground up.
• Experience designing build/release tools.
• Experience with git, Subversion, or Perforce.
• Experience with GNU Make, Ant, SCons.
• Strong shell scripting experience, bash preferred.
• Experience with an object oriented scripting language, python preferred.
• The ideal candidate will have built C, C++, and/or Java for Linux devices or appliances.
• Ability to work collaboratively across different functional teams.
• Passionate and self-driven.
