Position Description

Job Description: Customer Service technician responsible for monitoring and troubleshooting of fixed and mobile satellite systems. Provide Level 2 support for satellite services. Duties require on-call responsibilities for SATCOM customer support and teleport emergency response. Responsible for the operation of the Satellite Operations Center operations to include system monitoring, on-call support and troubleshooting, configuring network designs, proof of concept tests, hosting and supporting customer demonstrations.

Essential Knowledge and Skills:
Education / Training:
• Technical associate’s degree or equivalent work experience related to wireless or satellite services.
• Fixed/deployable satellite system operations and maintenance training or related equivalent work experience

Experience:
• Minimum one year experience operating and managing VSAT-based satellite systems (hubs and remote terminals)
• Minimum one year experience operating and maintaining iDirect satellite networks
• Minimum one year experience Monitoring and Controlling VSAT systems and associated services
• Experience administering computer systems (Windows/Unix/Linux) desirable.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
• Must have hands on experience in testing and troubleshooting satellite voice and data networks.
• Must have the ability to provide technical content on proposals for VSAT equipment.
• Ability to work in a fluid fast paced technical environment with minimal supervision.
• Possess technical writing/editing and oral communication skills, and be able to interact comfortably and professionally with the client and senior management.
• Must be able read and comprehend design and installation documents associated with the implementation of VSAT networks.
• Ability to work well in a team environment and /or independently, with limited direction, to meet schedule and objectives


Type Equipment Used: Standard office automation equipment. Minor equipment maintenance may require the use of hand power tools. Spectrum Analyzer, RF power meter, BER Test set, Digital Multi-Meter
