Position Description

Person to be responsible for developing mobile applications, managing vendor relationships, and testing applications – developed by News Over Wireless – for quality and functionality. This individual will develop and leverage the NOW operations team, automated test scripts, and processes/procedures to validate all handset code ensuring that it meets specifications and timelines. The Developer will be responsible for designing, coding, maintaining, and testing news delivery applications for mobile devices such as cell and smart phones. Must have a high level of technical expertise combined with excellent planning, coordination, and communication skills as well as the ability to work on teams. Will be required to compile/build software as part of the testing process, have experience with server technologies, and be proficient in the following technologies: Java/J2ME, Unix, Apache, Perl/PHP, SQL/MySQL, WAP, XML, HTML, Objective-C/iPhone development. Participation in an after-hours, on-call pager rotation is required. A minimum of five years combined software testing and development experience as well as experience in object-oriented programming languages such as Java necessary. Must be experienced in compiling and testing software for mobile devices, especially the iPhone. This individual must be detail and documentation oriented and have demonstrated expertise in unit testing and project management.
