General Summary:
The Business Development Manager is responsible for driving and executing In-Building Wireless (IBW)/Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) business development initiatives in a given region. In this capacity, the individual will liaison extensively with the Enterprise sales organization, System Engineering, Strategic Business Units, BusinessPartners, Strategic Partners, Distributors and the End-user. Additional responsibilities include providing product line technical support; lead qualification, estimates, preparation of proposals and quotations; customer presentations, and joint sales calls. This individual will also help develop organizational strategies through continuously gathering market and competitive intelligence. The Business Development Manager will also be responsible for developing and implementing short-term and long-term IBW sales objectives for the public safety marketplace, which include; working with the “jurisdictional authorities” at the county, city and municipal levels to obtain CommScope product approval.
The Business Development Manager is an experienced manager, with business development & channel management experience, knowledgeable of the overall business, market(s), product portfolio, customers & channels required to define the vision, goals and objectives for business development initiatives.
This opportunity allows for the individual to work remotely. However, the individual must live in California, Washington or Oregon and near a major airport
Duties and Responsibilities:
Identifies, creates and maintains BusinessPartner relationships, alliances and identifies solutions that leverage both companies’ expertise, technologies and intellectual property to enhance value and expand the products, services, and market reach.
- Forecasts, tracks and measures sales against objectives in the given region
- Tracks and measures the success of business development initiatives, manages expectations and works to ensure the anticipated business value is realized.
- Architects and establishes new initiatives with BusinessPartners and across the channel network to solve strategic and customer issues.
- Establishes close working relationships with existing customers, sales prospects and internal stakeholders to understand the needs related to business development initiatives.
- Proactively inform, educate and solicit feedback from customers and partners by developing/coordinating seminars, marketing collateral, newsletter articles, and/or conducting facilitated collaboration & ideation sessions.
- Conducts market analysis, competitive positioning, program & product requirements and identifies other success criteria.
- Supports the roll out of business development initiatives by validating our offerings or combined offerings in customer sites and working with stakeholders to enhance and/or develop new solution offerings.
- Could potentially develop, mentor and manage other business development employees
Job Specifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business or technical field required. MBA is strongly preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in customer/partnership, business development and sales required.
- Must have experience with RF technology, product and business development
- Minimum 1 year experience in working in the Inbuilding Wireless marketplace
- Strategic thinking with strong analytical and problem solving skills required
- Ability to communicate effectively with business owners and senior level executives required
- In-depth understanding of the core business, core competency and capabilities required
- Must be capable of solving highly complex business and political intertwined problems concurrently
- Effective negotiation and influencing skills required
- A proven record of accomplishments
- Must be highly self-motivated and detailed oriented
- Position requires extensive travel
