Wireless VAS Operations Manager - Cox Communications

Position Description

This position is dedicated to leading and managing the Wireless Value Added Services (VAS) Operations team.

The Wireless VAS Operations Manager provides leadership and technical expertise for a team of system administrators responsible for the 24/7 operations of Value Added Services in support of the Cox Wireless product. This position collaborates and coordinates with Product Technology as well as other Cox departments.

The position identifies risks and issues with the potential to impact Wireless VAS applications and specifies appropriate action to correct those problems. The Wireless VAS Operations Manager positions team members to complete projects and routine application changes. This position requires significant interaction with other departments and business functions. This position must also interact with several vendors, ensuring a focus on vendor SLA performance.

Responsibilities:
1. Prioritize activities and initiatives based on level of risk and exposure.
2. Direct staff personnel to ensure effective implementation of new services deployments or configuration changes.
3. Define policies, procedures, and standards for applications maintained by the Wireless VAS Operations team.
4. Manage daily operation of servers, operating systems, and applications in the Cox data center.
5. Ensure that projects and issues are handled in a timely manner.
6. Provide supervision of team, including performance reviews and goal setting.
7. Additional responsibilities as assigned.

Key Performance Indicators:
1. Service levels (availability and reliability) are being met.
2. Change requests and issues are handled in a timely manner.
3. Projects are completed in a timely manner or in accordance with the project timeline.
4. Policies and procedures owned by the Wireless VAS Ops team are updated and communicated in a timely fashion

Qualifications:
1. Typically requires BS/BA in related discipline. Generally 7+ years experience in related field. Certification is required in some areas. Advanced degree and generally 5+ years experience in related field. Certification required in some areas
2. Working knowledge of Solaris and Linux is required.
3. Working knowledge of Weblogic, JBoss, or similar web application server technology is required.
4. Experience completing projects using strong project management and organizational skills.
5. Demonstrated ability to forge productive relationships with vendors
6. Excellent verbal / written communication and presentation skills.
7. Familiarity with I.T. Operations environments.
8. Experience in Wireless industry preferred
9. Demonstrated ability to handle personnel issues.
