Position Description

Openwave is looking for a highly experienced, hands-on technical manager for its Next Generation Mobile Intelligence Product. This will be the highest performing Intelligence engine for smart phones that will increase the efficiency of bundled service providers and internet ad brokers; and significantly enhance the experience of exponentially exploding mobile users by enabling the delivery of relevant rich media content.

This is a key position and requires:

- to manage cross-functional globally distributed engineering team to deliver high quality product within time and budget.
- to evaluate and recommend best architecture from various alternatives, defend it with the top management and secure the budget.
- to pro-actively collaborate with major stakeholders including product management, program management, services, IT, advance technology to contribute to product direction, and to ensure successful delivery and support.
- to build, mentor and motivate the team of high caliber engineers and architects to achieve their best.
- to be extremely hands-on; actively participate in architectural discussions, perform code reviews and do actual coding to provide technical leadership and help with timely deliverable.
- to respond to changing business requirements in an agile fashion within the framework of a successful and established organization.

Position Requirements

•15+ years experience managing highly talented cross-functional global engineering teams formed of full time employees and contractors.
•10+ years coding experience in Java and/or C++ on Solaris or Linux platform.
•10+ years experience in managing projects requiring highly scalable and available application and databases.
•10+ years experience in delivering successful products in the market utilizing leading edge technologies including open source products.
•Experience working Agile and Waterfall development processes a plus.
•Excellent oral and written communication skills; be able to present and negotiate with all stakeholders including upper management.
•BS or MS in Computer Science or relevant work experience
