Position Description
There’s a new team at Amazon that is about to make a big splash in the mobile space. We’re building a brand-new, world-class customer experience and a set of high capacity, scalable services to support it. We’re tackling hard problems for two very different groups of customers and our customer experience will span different devices from PCs to mobile phones. We have a crystal clear vision and a very aggressive launch target and we’re looking for the best of the best to help us achieve it!
We’re looking for a Software Development Engineer to help us execute on our vision. The person filling this role will join the project at the ground floor as one of the founding members of our rock star development team. You will be responsible for laying the technical foundation of the project: participating in early design and scoping and delivering the first software components. Specifically, you will:
* participate in the technical design of components of a brand new, world-class customer experience and the services and tools that support it
* deliver rapid iterations of excellent software components that just work
* contribute elegant, practical code to the project
* ensure the delivery of a world-class customer experience by challenging yourself and others constantly raise the bar
* practice engineering excellence: follow best practices on quality, consistency, maintainability, efficiency, security and all the other things that make great software great
It’s a challenging job, and we’re looking for an awesome person to fill it. We’re looking for an expert coder: a disciplined, professional developer and technical all-star that can dive deep into the technical details while keeping the big picture clearly in view. We need someone who is very comfortable working through ambiguity, making the right choices, and helping deliver great software. The opportunity to make an impact in this role is limited only by your personal capacity! Other qualifications include:
* BS or better in Computer Science or related discipline
* at least 3 years of real industry experience: writing code and solving tough problems
* broad-based expertise including fluency in popular internet programming languages and related technologies (it would be good if Java and Perl are among them along with JavaScript and libraries like JQuery) and a detailed understanding of how things work
* a passion for and track record of delivering great customer experience
