Position Description

Position details:
The primary responsibility for this job will be to lead an engineering team through a Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) for voice related wireless projects. The voice projects will include all aspects of a voice wireless network. Understanding how voice disciplines such as legacy telephone networks and VoIP enabled network interact is a requirement.

This position requires for the candidate to have a solid technical grounding to allow the development of requirements with various internal and external customers on new project initiation. The candidate should be able to communicate effectively with groups of technical people as the candidate leads, coordinates and manages complex projects to completion from design through deployment. The ideal candidate would have CDMA network experience and knowledge of how legacy and VoIP telephony and services function.

Responsibilities:
* The Mobile Voice technology Lead Engineer must be able to provide technical guidance to the Network engineering and Operation teams on the CDMA/3GPP2 systems testing and deployment.
* Evaluates network demands, develops network plans based on economic feasibility and recommends deployments. The Lead Engineer will conduct special studies as required by the field, operations, and other organizations such as Cox Business and Legal & Regulatory.
* Must be able to manage, direct and instruct personnel to provide technical resolution of design, test, and implementation issues.
* Work with vendors to make sure that the design meets reliability, performance, security and operations guidelines.

Qualifications:
1. Typically requires BS/BA in related discipline. Generally 5-8 years of experience in related field. MS/MA and generally 3-5 years of experience in related field. Certification required in some areas.
2. BSEE or equivalent preferred with seven years equivalent field experience in relevant field. Relevant fields include:
- Wireless telecommunications network design, activation, and operation.
- Legacy telephone network design, activation and operation.
- IP network design and operation.
- Project management training with a heavy technical understanding is the idea combination to lead projects through all phases of the SDLC.
3. Strong technical background in architecting and designing mobile voice networks.
4. Experience in wireless switching core infrastructure with focus on CDMA.
5. Must have a thorough understanding and first hand experience of the call-flows in CDMA based switching network, including MSC, MGW, HLR, and wireless services.
6. A thorough, design and architecture level, understanding of mobile data client server architecture, supplementary services, SMS, MMS, WAP, LBS, voice session control, Directory Assistance and Unified Communications,
7. Must have understanding of the enhanced voice features in the wireless switching infrastructure and wireless IN environment.
8. Working experience on SUN Solaris, Linux or other UNIX OS is required.
9. Must have experience with TDM and IP based fixed network technology that includes design and implementation of soft switch networks, TCP/IP, VoIP, RTP, SIP, Sigtran, WIN, SS7, and Number Porting.
10. Must have a broad understanding of mobile handset clients, OTA technology and client interaction with network based mobile services.
11. An exposure to IMS in mobile network environment and LTE standards is desired.
12. Knowledge of Mobile Internet standards including Wi-Fi, OMA, IETF & 3GPP2.
13. Knowledge of software system architecture for mobile services and real time network elements.
14. Ability to cope in a dynamic start-up environment that requires interrupt-driven multi-tasking in response to constantly shifting priorities.
15. Ability to work with minimum supervision, learn quickly on the job in a fast paced environment, and proactively contributes as an experienced subject matter expert.
16. Analytical problem solving skills and the ability to resolve a wide range of issues in imaginative and practical ways.
17. Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communications skills as well as analytical and problem solving skills are essential. Proficient in using standard computer hardware and software systems is required.
18. Good communication skills (both verbal and written) in English.
19. 25% travel is required
