Position Description
Responsible for software requirements, design, implementation, integration, testing, certification, and production of mobile WiMax products.
Job includes working with customers on product specification and design, integration of WiMax and other modems and protocol stacks into the final product, development of product specific software, integration with customer software base, and testing and certification of the product.
The job involves leading a software team dedicated to the project, coordination with the other engineering teams, and working with the customer(s), marketing and sales, and various 3rd party vendors.
Skills and Experience:
Good communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment are essential.
8+ years of technical experience in the cellular or WiFi mobile product space.
Previous team leadership experience.
BSEE/CS required; MS a plus, but not required.
Candidates must have experience and strong knowledge in the following areas:
C/C++ programming and target debugging experience in an embedded environment.
Experience at the product design and integration level with cellular handsets or WiFi devices.
Real-time Operating Systems and Kernels – including their principles and the services they provide.
Use of Windows and/or Linux-based development IDEs supporting both host and target application development.
Full cycle of software development including detailed analysis, design, implementation, debugging and developer testing.
Experience leading a small team of software/firmware developers.
Subject matter expertise in at least one of the following:
802.16 High Level MAC or other wireless layer 2 and 3 protocols.
Design and implementation of efficient embedded or application software.
Design and implementation of call processing and mobility algorithms.
Design and implementation of application interfaces for mobile wireless products.
Design and implementation of Windows and/or Linux Kernel level device drivers.
Design and development of handsets or mobile reference designs.
Design, development, and integration of handset middleware, applications, and GUIs.
Design and development of handset software for calibration, radio control, power management, and peripherals.
It is also beneficial if the successful candidate has the following skills:
Understanding of UML and OO software development paradigms and popular toolsets.
Understanding of unit test, code coverage, profiling and optimization approaches and techniques.
Knowledge and understanding of OFDM systems.
Knowledge and understanding of digital RF communications and principles – especially in a mobile environment.
