We are seeking an experienced Director of Engineering for one of our highly respected clients involved in aircraft telecommunications technology.

Position Overview:

  • Be part of a team whose services will provide affordable airborne telecommunications to aircraft owners and operators.

  • Excel as an executive as you develop the team so they can provide aircraft services to surf the Internet, check e-mail, send attachments, and log into their office network using personal Wi-Fi enabled laptops or mobile handheld devices.

Director of Engineering Duties:

  • The Director of Engineering will report directly to the Vice President and manage a group of 15 to 20 staff members.

  • The Director of Engineering will be responsible for leading the electrical design, mechanical design, testing and system integration activities within engineering.

  • Will utilize your senior level skills in production creation and contribute to the overall team support.

  • Actually lead the development of air-to-ground communications and Wi-Fi module products that contain mechanical design and circuit design in any of the following areas: Micro-computer design, Analog design including audio, discrete interface, power supply and power routing, Relays, Lighting, Other electro-mechanical devices, RF design at the circuit and modular level and Basic combinational logic and microprocessor circuits.

  • Work with leading the engineering of products for the team with new and old protocols that could include: GSM, SUA, MGCP, OSPF, BGP, MPLS, TCP/IP, PRI ISDN, VoIP, V.42bis, SS7, H.323, H.245., 802.11, 3G, SIP, IP Routing, ARINC, Ethernet, IS2000A, 1Xevdv, EVDO, WIMAX, HSPA, WCDMA, TL9000, IMS, ANSI-41C and IOS 2001.

  • Support your team as they address airborne telecommunications, air-to-ground broadband, Wi-Fi, Satcom, 3G Cellular Systems, CDMA, GPRS, GSM, VPNs, and other data devices.

  • Lead circuit analysis through computer simulation and empirical bench testing.

  • Lead CAD processes: Schematic capture, PCB layout, FAA, engineering and manufacturing drawings and documents.

  • Work with other team members (mechanical, electrical, software and system engineers) to integrate product requirements.

  • Direct the build of engineering prototypes and testing.

  • Direct the creation of test fixturing, test procedures and manufacturing test liaison.

  • Assist with FAA and FCC processes including testing and document preparation.

  • Involvement in project planning, inter-company support and customer support.

  • Direct the development of your staff and engineering technicians.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university in Electrical, Computer or Telecommunications Engineering.

  • Master of Science degree in Electrical, Computer or Telecommunications Engineering is preferred.

  • A minimum of 10 years experience with a working with new and old protocols that could include: GSM, SUA, MGCP, OSPF, BGP, MPLS, TCP/IP, PRI ISDN, VoIP, V.42bis, SS7, H.323, H.245., 802.11, 3G, SIP, IP Routing, ARINC, Ethernet, IS2000A, 1Xevdv, EVDO, WIMAX, HSPA, WCDMA, TL9000, IMS, ANSI-41C and IOS 2001.

  • A minimum of 10 years experience with a working knowledge of Airborne Telecommunications, Telecommunications, Broadband, Air-to-Ground Broadband, Mobile Broadband, Wi-Fi, Satcom, Avionics, Radio, Microwave, 3G Cellular Systems, CDMA, GSM, WCDMA, CDMA, TDMA, GPRS, EDGE, IP Network Equipment, EVDO, WLAN, UMTS, Fixed Mobile Convergence (FMC), VPNs and other data devices.

  • A minimum of 10 years related experience in an engineering design and development group.

  • A minimum of 10 years related experience in the design and development of telecommunication systems such as 3G Cellular Systems, CDMA, GSM, Fixed Mobile Convergence (FMC) or Satellite.

  • Leadership skills including team and project management with the ability to complete projects based on a specified timeframe.

  • Working knowledge of MS Office applications and EE engineering software tools.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
