The IT Network Administrator/Engineer’s role is to provide a single point of contact for resolving technical problems within an enterprise network environment, while assuring the highest level of customer support and adhering to the service delivery requirements as mandated by IT SLAs.
The responsibilities include the following:
• Installing, acquisition, screening, installing, and maintaining network equipment to include Cisco, CheckPoint, and AAA technologies. The person will also troubleshoot problem areas (in person, by telephone, or via e-mail) in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end-user assistance where required.
• Responsibilities can include augmenting second and third level groups as it pertains to direct user, server, and network support.
• Screening, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining VPN, DMZ, wireless, VoIP, and monitoring issues and requests. This includes diagnosing issues on all seven layers of the OSI model.
• Optimize the network infrastructure to achieve high availability and performance of the various business applications supported. This includes installing, configuring, administering, and fine-tuning network equipment across the organization in a timely and efficient manner.
• Provide project support for network infrastructure related projects and deployments. This includes overseeing the equipment procurement
• Assists in providing recommendations on network infrastructure projects for the enterprise Installing and maintains local and wide area network hardware and software, and wiring. Evaluates local and wide area network hardware and software requirements and capabilities and makes recommendations. Monitors and maintains WAN network stability.
• Prepares and maintains documentation of network configurations, Visio diagrams and cabling layouts and provides internal technical support.
• Maintains various company-wide information technology network security control systems such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, wireless networks, virtual private networks, and network account access; analyze log files, and report breaches; monitor network traffic activity company-wide; assist in troubleshooting and resolving network security issues.
• Configure, install, support, and troubleshoot Cisco edge switches; implement secure solutions for customers, vendors, and 3rd parties; Configure, install, support, and troubleshoot Checkpoint firewalls and PIX firewalls; Configure, install, support and troubleshoot VPN connections to Tekelec sites, partners and customers; Configure, install, support and troubleshoot telecommunications circuits; Provide access and recommendations in the support of the DMZ network; Provide network support to Tekelec users; Support Customer Service labs, Engineering labs, and the manufacturing area; Configure, install, support, and troubleshoot the IP phone systems; Configure, install, support, and troubleshoot QoS across the Tekelec network.
• The IT Network Administrator must be able to adhere to corporate policies and procedures and pay attention to security, risk and compliance with various regulations.
• Candidate will be required to be on-call approximately 1 week out of the month, and will provide back-up of designated employee.
• Ability to program in an administrative language (Tk, Perl, VBScript, a shell), to port C programs from one platform to another, and to write small C or C# programs.
• Ability to keep up with hardware and software industry trends/new products
• Strong knowledge of core and Networking fundamentals is required, including a deep understanding of TCP/IP and experience with IPSec.
• Demonstrated ability to multi-task and work with limited supervision with various technologies and projects. General knowledge of, messaging, web/intranet, client/server and desktop computing are required.
• Exposure to: Infrastructure Design and analysis; Security Risk management and policy design; Intrusion Detection/Prevention Systems; Network Monitoring; Authentication technologies; Capacity planning, High Availability; UNIX server administration; Network Services including DHCP, DNS, and WINS; File structures and knowledge of Active Directory.

Summary of Qualifications:
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs, during the course of duties involving lifting and moving
equipment.
• Will, on occasion, travel to other offices in the company to perform tasks related to the support, maintenance, upgrade, and/or expansion of the respective security and network
infrastructures.
Technical Skills:
• B.S/B.A in Computer Science/MIS, related field and 5+ years relevant experience
• 5+ years experience performing network equipment support
• 5+ years experience in network monitoring
• 5+ years experience supporting a multi-office environment
• 5+ years experience in VoIP and wireless support
• IT related technical certifications, such as A+ certification required, OEM certifications (Cisco, CheckPoint, etc.), CISSP, GIAC
• Strong understanding of enterprise security and risk
• Strong understanding of hardware and software configuration across a broad spectrum of network infrastructure devices and vendors
• Excellent understanding of running secure networks, hardening servers, implementing and monitoring packet filtering firewalls and intrusion detection systems
• A solid understanding of networking/distributed computing environment concepts; understand principles of routing, client/server programming, the design of consistent network-wide filesystem, VPN and DMZ layouts.
