LG's performance in the third quarter of 2009

Shipments hit 31.6 million units, up 6 percent, quarter on quarter. Unit sales declined in North America and Korea. Shipments to North America slowed down due to rising demand for smartphones and prepaid phones, according to LG.

LG said price erosion and increased sales as a portion of low-end handsets resulted in lower profitability quarter on quarter.
