3Guppies (www.3guppies.com [1]) today announced the availability of its mobile application on Facebook Platform, giving users the ability to instantly and easily download photos posted on Facebook to any mobile phone for free. Simple to use, 3Guppies' application enables consumers to extend social media sharing beyond the web to the cell phone.

"Photo sharing through Facebook is hugely popular, and 3Guppies' new application puts us at the forefront of a growing trend in adding mobility to online social utilities," said John Dearborn, CEO of 3Guppies.

With the 3Guppies mobile application, Facebook's 47 million users can send photos from any of the albums they have access to on Facebook to virtually any cell phone number in North America. Unlike other applications, the recipient does not need to also have the application--or even use Facebook--in order to receive picture messages from 3Guppies.

The 3Guppies application is also one of the first in the mobile category on Facebook to enable users to download and save photos to a mobile phone in addition to viewing them on WAP. As always, 3Guppies does not charge for this service, however, standard carrier data charges apply.

"Facebook Photos make it really easy to show pictures to friends and family online, and we wanted to make it just as easy to share those same photos by phone," said Dearborn. "After all, not everything designed for online easily translates to mobile. There are a lot of technical obstacles associated with downloading media over-the-air to a cell phone. We worked hard to make it seamless." To ensure photos are transmitted smoothly from Facebook to the phone, 3Guppies tested compatibility with over a thousand different handsets on dozens of carriers in the U.S.

3Guppies launched a widget with similar functionality for other community and blog sites in April 2007, and has sent nearly two million media files to cell phones since that time.
