Unisys Introduces Free Service for Clients to Test Drive Microsoft Unified Communications Technologies

Trial service allows companies to ‘kick the tires’ on Microsoft Office Communication Server, Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 and Microsoft Office LiveMeeting.

BLUE BELL, Pa., July 14, 2008 – Unisys Corporation (NYSE: UIS) today announced the availability of a trial service enabling enterprise customers to test drive Microsoft Exchange Server 2007, Microsoft Office Communication Server 2007, and Microsoft Office LiveMeeting at no cost.

In today’s world of anywhere, instant communication, this service allows global enterprises to try – free of charge – the latest unified communications technology from Microsoft to enable their workforces to communicate more productively in an integrated platform via PC, the Web or mobile phone.*

The trial service, implemented and managed by Unisys, will offer organizations the opportunity to evaluate the features available in the Microsoft unified communications suite, including e-mail, calendaring and unified messaging, in addition to multi-party instant messaging, and voice and video conferencing. Up to 20 accounts can be established per customer, extending the trial experience to a larger group of individuals across the company. Organizations interested in participating in a 30-day trial should contact their Microsoft Sales Executive.

“Through this trial, Unisys is able to provide customers with a first-hand look at the potential the Microsoft unified communications platform can bring to their organization. We hope they’ll see how seamlessly blending the multiple ways in which workers are already communicating in today’s workplace can be a boon for productivity,” said Peter Boit, vice president for Microsoft Enterprise Partners at Microsoft Corp. “Microsoft’s ongoing relationship with Unisys provides our enterprise customers with new levels of business value, helping to create efficient, high-quality communication and collaboration experiences.”

While e-mail has become a commonplace, mission-critical communications tool, unified communications is ushering in a new era of enterprise productivity and in turn will help organizations get the most from their business initiatives and IT investments. Several components of the Microsoft unified communications platform included in this trial include:

“Unisys builds and manages secure, scalable enterprise systems for the world’s largest public and private sector organizations," said Gary Erickson, vice president of business development, Microsoft Alliance, Unisys. “This trial lets us showcase our expertise in large-scale unified communications solutions on the Microsoft platform. It also gives our clients an easy way to experiment with new collaboration tools enabled by Microsoft’s unified communications technology stack.”

Unisys teamed with Quintum Technologies, a provider of VoIP solutions designed to bring the reliability and voice clarity of public telephone networks to Internet telephony. Quintum’s experience in telephony, specifically VoIP, provides back-end support for the unified communications platform, including dynamic call failover, interoperability with voice and data network environments, SIP and H.323 support.
