Oct 10, 2008 (M2 EQUITYBITES via COMTEX) -- - US communications [1] holding company AT&T Inc (NYSE: T [2] | Quote [3] | Chart [4] | News [5] | PowerRating [6]) announced on Thursday (9 October) that the company is offering online account set up for its iPhone 3G customers.
AT&&T said that customers can now set up accounts online before activation and completion of the purchase at a store. This will reportedly reduce in-store wait times as the busy holiday [7] shopping season approaches.
New customers can perform a pre-qualifying credit check and determine eligibility to port an existing phone number to AT&T in advance by visiting http://www.att.com/iphone. Existing AT&T customers can also determine eligibility to add a new line for the iPhone.
This new AT&T online service joins Apple's existing offering for customers the of the iPhone 3G by starting the setup process online and finishing in the store.
