Back in July, Verizon Wireless promised to prorate its early termination fee (ETF). Late last week the carrier fulfilled the promise as a part of its "worry-free" guarantee, which also includes free online management features (check your remaining minutes). New contracts signed after November 16th will include a prorated ETF--an immediate cancellation (during the first month) will require a $175 ETF, while each proceeding month sees a $5 decline in the fee. The worry-free program also includes free online backup of contacts, so subscribers can retain their contact information should they lose their handset.
