Verizon Wireless has piped up a few times in the past to remind the industry that it too is rolling out EV-DO Rev. A throughout the U.S., but the carrier has made its first major Rev. A announcement: The first markets to get the upgrade are Richmond, VA; Chicago, IL; Gary, IN; Salt Lake City, UT; and some areas of Florida and Massachusetts. Verizon said its BroadbandAccess customers in these areas can expect average download speeds of 450-800 kbps and average upload speeds of 300-400 kbps. Of course, the carrier making the most noise about its Rev. A rollouts, Sprint [1], claims average upload speeds of 350-500 kbps and download speeds of 600 kbps-1.4 mbps.
