Ericsson: Mobile traffic to increase tenfold by 2012

Ericsson CEO Carl-Henric Svanberg said he expects traffic over both wireline and mobile networks to increase tenfold between now and 2012. "With high-speed broadband, we will see multimedia to start a new era in telecom," Svanberg noted. He went on to stress that this new era will put additional demands on both operators and vendors; vendors need to realize that consumer understanding will become even more critical and carriers must note that IP competence will be integral for triple play and multimedia services.
