Demystifying the Latest Datacenter Networking Technologies
Date: June 6, 2012 | Time: 11 am ET / 8 am PT / 4 pm BST | Duration: 1 hour
Datacenter networks have become increasingly complex with new technologies and protocols that together can create enormous overheads in terms of hardware acquisition costs, datacenter OAM, and network cabling. As a result, equipment manufacturers are looking to converge multiple application-specific networks over a common technology, with Ethernet leading the change. Motivated by a strong need for improved operations in datacenters, several extensions to Ethernet that provide lossless, guaranteed, and low-latency services have been proposed by the IEEE. These include enhancements and alternatives like Transparent Interconnection of Lots of Links (TRILL), Virtual eXtensible Local Area Network (VXLAN), and Network Virtualization using Generic Routing Encapsulation (NVGRE). These standards have created a critical need to understand the various options available and identify the best route towards network convergence for enabling better datacenter operations.
In this webinar, experts from Aricent will dive deep into the nuances of latest Datacenter Ethernet technologies such as DCB, TRILL, VXLAN, NVGRE etc., and discuss in detail the purpose and applications of each. They shall demystify these new standards and alternatives to help telecom equipment manufacturers understand and choose the best options for datacenter network convergence, and overcome the challenges of implementing them. The interactive Q&A session will allow attendees to discuss with the experts around Datacenter Ethernet technologies. Additionally, the presentation will highlight how Aricent’s award winning ISS software implements TRILL and can enable successful network deployments.
